ROX Motor Builds Middle East's First AI Auto Plant in Abu Dhabi
Chinese luxury SUV maker ROX Motor is setting up its global headquarters and first full manufacturing facility outside China right in Abu Dhabi — and it's bringing AI-driven production with it. The Advanced AI Manufacturing Centre, developed in partnership with KEZAD Group at KEZAD Logistics Park in Musaffah, is expected to begin operations in September 2026, producing luxury SUVs that will be truly made in the UAE.
This is a landmark moment for the region's automotive industry. No other manufacturer has built an AI-powered vehicle production facility in the Middle East before. And ROX Motor isn't dipping a toe in — it's diving in headfirst.

Why Abu Dhabi? ROX Motor's Strategic Play
The location choice is no accident. Abu Dhabi sits at the crossroads of three continents, giving ROX Motor a natural springboard into Africa, Asia, and Europe from a single hub.
Brian Bian, ROX Chief Marketing and Product Officer, laid it out clearly: "Abu Dhabi is in the centre of three continents. It's very easy to start from here to reach Africa, reach Asia, and reach Europe." He also emphasized alignment with the UAE's Operation 300Bn strategy — the national initiative pushing advanced manufacturing, AI, new energy, and exports.
But there's more to it than geography. ROX already has serious skin in the game in this region.
ROX Motor's GCC Track Record So Far
The brand isn't arriving as an unknown. ROX has already sold more than 5,000 vehicles in the UAE and over 20,000 across the broader MENA region. That's a solid customer base for a Chinese luxury SUV brand that's still relatively young.
Here's the thing — those UAE customers are already shaping the product. ROX says UAE luxury lifestyle, desert terrain, architecture, and culture are directly influencing design decisions for models like the ADAMAS and ROX 01, from colour palettes to cabin materials and interior detailing. The desert isn't just a market — it's a design partner.
What the KEZAD AI Manufacturing Centre Will Produce
The facility at KEZAD Logistics Park in Musaffah will be far more than a knock-down assembly operation. ROX is calling it a full manufacturing centre powered by AI-driven production systems — a first for the Middle East.
Key details confirmed so far:
- Operations begin: September 2026 (second half of 2026)
- Initial focus: Supplying demand in the UAE and wider GCC
- Long-term annual capacity target: 300,000 vehicles by 2030
- New model rollout: 3–4 new models by end of 2028–2030, expanding to 5–6 models
- Vehicles will be "truly made in the UAE" — not just assembled from imported kits
And the best part? This positions Abu Dhabi as a genuine hub for new energy vehicles (NEVs), AI-driven manufacturing, and local supply chain development.
What This Means for UAE Car Buyers
For consumers in the GCC, this move could translate into shorter wait times, more competitive pricing, and models specifically tuned for regional conditions. When a vehicle is designed and built with the desert in mind — from factory floor to final finish — it's a different proposition than one shipped from a Chinese plant with a generic GCC spec.
Expect locally built ROX models to feature:
- Desert-optimised cooling systems and cabin insulation for UAE summers
- Interior materials selected to withstand extreme heat and UV exposure
- Colour and trim options inspired by regional aesthetics
- Faster availability at UAE and GCC dealerships without long shipping delays
But that's not all. Local manufacturing typically opens the door to customisation options that imported vehicles can't match, and potentially more accessible after-sales support with parts sourced closer to home.
Abu Dhabi's Growing Auto Manufacturing Ambitions
ROX Motor's investment doesn't exist in a vacuum. It joins a wave of manufacturing commitments across the GCC, with Saudi Arabia's PIF-Hyundai partnership and Lucid's Jeddah plant also ramping up regional production capacity.
What sets the ROX-KEZAD project apart is the AI-first approach to manufacturing. While other facilities in the region focus on assembly or traditional production lines, ROX is positioning its Abu Dhabi plant as a technology showcase — one that aligns neatly with the UAE's push to become a global AI leader.
The announcement was made at the Make it in the Emirates 2026 event, underscoring how closely this project ties into national industrial strategy.
What's Next for ROX Motor in the GCC
With the September 2026 start date roughly months away, expect to see construction milestones and hiring announcements from KEZAD in the near term. ROX will likely reveal more details about the first model to roll off the Abu Dhabi production line as the launch window approaches.
The brand's current lineup — headlined by the ROX 01 and the upcoming ADAMAS — gives a clear signal of where it's headed: premium SUVs with new energy powertrains, smart cabin tech, and bold design. The 3–4 new models promised by 2028–2030 will broaden that range significantly.
One thing is certain — when the first UAE-built ROX luxury SUV leaves the Musaffah production line in 2026, it won't just be a new car. It'll be proof that the Middle East can build its own.
