Known ProblemsPlastic timing belt tensioners known to fail with four years, though engine damage is rare. VW-sourced turbo engine suffers from occasional ignition coil failure, although redesigned coils supposedly rectify problem. Creaking front suspension reported. Moisture enters headlights and tail-lights. Numerous electrical problems as cars get older, including dead electric windows, broken door locks, faults with immobiliser in keyless remote, permanently-on brake lights, loss of power due to EGR valve problem, failing power steering, and random faults with a/c, radio and airbags. Various rattles due to loose cabin trim.
